Engaging students can be challenging. However, it’s not about personality or entertainment skills! Expllore and practice how to design a class session using the four phases of Kolb’s Learning Cycle. Kolb’s Cycle will help you integrate lectures, guest speakers, group work, and in class activities that will guide students to actively question, make sense of, and apply new learning. Kolb’s Cycle is a means towards the end of actively engaging students in achieving the outcomes you intend and aligns well with how the brain achieves deeper learning. and can be applied to any discipline or course format.
Multiple disciplinary examples will be provided in your CETL Booklet, Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle. Leave this workshop with Kolb applied to one course session, Attendees will be invited to partner for observing each other’s application of Kolb in their course and attend a final debriefing as a group when observations are complete and customized Kolb Cycles will be shared.
