Open to UWM Faculty, Teaching Academic Staff, and Teaching Assistants
This three-part workshop and certificate program is a professional development opportunity aimed at familiarizing instructors with UWM’s LGBTQ people, culture, experiences, and identities. Designed and facilitated in collaboration by CETL, the LGBT Resource Center, and the Inclusive Excellence Center, the goal of the program is to prepare instructors to responsibly and effectively integrate inclusive teaching practices into their courses. Upon completing the four-week workshop, participants will be prepared to write an inclusive syllabus, assignment, and classroom activity. Our desired outcome is to inform educators who will positively impact student learning and retention, nurture a culture of acceptance, and foster a more inclusive campus.
This workshop is blended (online and face-to-face) to accommodate instructors’ busy schedules. We will have online activities before and between our face-to-face meetings.
Face-to-face meeting dates: 2/23/2018, 3/9/2018, and 4/20/2018, 10:00-12:00 in Engelmann B73.
