This workshop covers both pedagogical and technical aspects of learning and using Student Response Systems (SRS, or clickers) in a 2-hour session. Examples of ‘best clicker practices’ in the classroom will be highlighted.
SRS typically allow instructors to integrate questions into their PowerPoint presentations. Students respond using a handheld clicker device or (at your option) any wireless-enabled mobile device ( laptop, notebook, netbook, tablet, smart phone…). Used effectively, student response systems can transform traditionally passive lecture classes into more stimulating interactive classes. To prepare for the workshop:
- Please bring your own laptop (PC only, since podium computers are equipped with PC computers… and don’t forget your charger).
- Before the workshop, please open a Turning Technologies Account and download and install TurningPoint Cloud (both are free!). Please follow the instructions at this link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3066809/Download%20%26%20Install%20TPC.pdf
- Additional assistance is available immediately after this session, or by appointment.
Please note that all workshop participants MUST already be familiar with PowerPoint. If you are interested in using a Mac for clicker presentations or if you want to use clickers without PowerPoint, please contact the CETL directly (CETL@uwm.edu or ext. 4319).
