Every year I receive requests from departments to discuss how to embed ongoing professional development in teaching into the culture of their unit. These requests stir up a range of approaches and ideas that can tap and put in motion sustainable and scaled features into the fabric of a unit beyond a semester or two. Many want to offer options to their seasoned, new, and adjunct faculty and instructors and many want to access new knowledge – but in efficient ways. What are the possibilities? Creative strategies in retreats, synchronous sessions, faculty meetings, peer review pods, etc. have made a pathway toward excellence in teaching possible. How are you and your department doing this and what have you learned?
