This two-part Institute, Designing Your Own Course, helps instructors create or significantly revise a course for an upcoming semester. All components of a course are explored in order to increase student success, engagement, and achievement of course outcomes. From minor tweaking to an extreme makeover, make a course your own by confidently making the changes that alignwith  your course outcomes and advance the level of student engagement and learning. Participants will receive the Learner-centered Course Design booklet explaining the design process with examples of each course design component. Through interactive exercises, we will begin using the design steps during the Institute. The result of this in-depth series will be your course well on its way with greater intentionality and transparency with the option of completing a Certificate at your own pace.

Part I will guide you in framing your big questions behind your course, identifying overarching course outcomes, and outlining key assignments that are well-spaced, aligned with course outcomes and clearly communicated. Achieve greater intentionality in an existing or new course that will help students stay engaged and achieve the learning that you intend.
